Job applications you can read before they’re sent.
01What needed changing
Job listings are duplicated, stale and often closed to the applicant before anyone reads them, so effort runs out on roles that were never available. Handing that to a language model risks scores nobody can check and answers that cite experience the candidate doesn’t have.
02Decisions we made
What we chose, and why.
01
Check eligibility before scoring fit.
Location, work authorisation and seniority are hard rules applied first, never a weight a score can trade away.
02
Score with rules, not a prompt.
The same role and profile always produce the same score. The model only extracts structured fields, so every score can be explained.
03
Keep the candidate as the last step.
Nothing is submitted unread. No batch apply and no auto-submit, by design.

From the first interview to the support inbox.
- 01DiscoveryTreated the job search as a data problem: duplicated, mislabelled, stale and ineligible listings.
- 02First releaseA single-prompt scorer and automatic submission were replaced with deterministic scoring and a candidate-only submit.
- 03In useDiscovery, application and review run end to end, with a calibration set and a test suite gating every change.
- 04NextOpening it more widely once it runs well without anyone alongside.
What running it taught usIn an AI product the real design work is the boundary: what the system may conclude, what stays deterministic, and what a person must confirm.
